Marcell Jacobs and the Cool Factor of Training with a Hat
Main Post:
Hey
I recently stumbled upon some training clips of Marcell Jacobs, and I couldn't help but notice he rocks a hat while training. It got me thinking how cool does that look?
I mean, seriously, can you imagine sprinting down the track with style? So, what are your thoughts on this? Would you ever consider training with a hat on, or do you prefer the normal no hat look

Marcell Jacobs training with an aerodynamic cage.

“The aerodynamic shield is back. During his rise to the top of the world of sprinting, Marcell Jacobs has been training with this "aerodynamic cage". The reason why is to decrease air resistance, which, in turn, allows Jacobs to reach higher speeds with less exertion. This allows him to overstimulate his nervous system, allowing him to go faster. Another thing worth noting is that this allows Jacobs to run >12m/s in training whilst staying insanely relaxed due to the balanced training environment caused by the "cage". This could be one of the reasons why he's able to stay so relaxed when competing!”

Jacob's Ladder machine addition to training?
Main Post:
It seems like this machine might have some cross over to scrambling. What do you think?

i have one, got it used off of craiglist. an anytime fitness somewhat near me had one and i tried it twice there and fell in love and decided to get my own (only joined the gym to try it)
i've been training based on steve house's training for the new alpinism and it's been a huge benefit for me. i am able to move at a relatively slow pace but still easily get my heart rate in whatever zone i want with basically no impact on my knees. i have to go a fairly fast pace running to get into the same zones which is impractical for me to get the necessary hours in since my knees start to hurt after too much running
it feels very similar to going up a 40 degree snow slope for me, works the calves which is freakin awesome. i live in houston so it's hard to get any elevation gain and i've been soooooo happy with it, about to get on it actually

He run 6.55, far from his PB but that's still faster than Lyles yesterday, for example. This is definitely good for the Italian sprinting scene.

Not sure I understand this. Is it to make sure you stay at a certain speed for a certain distance, rather than relying on yourself to maintain what you perceive as that speed for that distance? Couldn't some advance math, and a helper with a timer, achieve the same thing?
